Weka Owner / Managing Director / Registered Kaiako - Rochelle Robins
|
The Weka journey is one that never ends — I am always dreaming, refining, and seeking inspiration to create a fun-filled, beautiful, and meaningful environment for our tamariki. What began as a dream became a reality in 2003, and the joy, growth, and achievements since then have exceeded anything I ever imagined.
As a registered early childhood teacher and the centre licensee, I remain closely involved in the heart of Weka. I cherish the opportunity to guide our philosophy, shape our environment, and support the kaiako who bring our vision to life each day. I am immensely proud that Weka has developed a strong reputation throughout New Zealand for being a place of direction, purpose, warmth, and genuine child-centred practice — a place that feels like home. This is only possible because of the incredible children, families, and staff I have been honoured to work alongside. For all of it, I am truly thankful. |

Katie is the friendly face who ensures whānau feel welcomed and supported, and the steady hand that keeps the centre functioning with clarity and care. Her relational leadership style strengthens our Weka community and ensures our environment remains organised, calm, and responsive to the needs of tamariki and their families. |

Weka Teaching Team
At Weka, our kaiako value and respect that early childhood is one of the most important stages in a child’s life. This is where foundations are laid for tamariki to become confident, capable, and curious learners. We work in partnership with children as co-protagonists, researching and inquiring alongside them, extending their thinking, and building on the knowledge and skills they already possess.
We deeply value parents as partners in learning. Through open, trusting communication, we ensure whānau have a meaningful role in shaping their child’s learning journey. Regular contact is encouraged so we can work together toward shared aspirations and a clear, united vision for each child.
Our teaching philosophy has developed over many years, shaped by our values, beliefs, and the growth of our centre. The Reggio Emilia Approach has long been a significant and natural part of our practice, woven alongside Te Whāriki, our New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum. Together, these philosophies support us to offer a high-quality, holistic programme that nurtures children’s wellbeing, learning, and sense of belonging.
